PLATFORM

Real Leadership. Real Results.

Ivy Hanley is running for Mayor to bring a bold, honest, and action-driven approach to St. John’s City Council. Her platform is grounded in what residents and business owners are experiencing every day—challenges that require more than speeches and ribbon cuttings. Ivy believes leadership means listening, showing up, and getting results. Here's where she stands:

1. Community Safety & the Addiction Crisis

St. John’s is in the middle of a medical and social emergency—and we need to start treating it like one. Ivy is committed to working with health professionals, community leaders, and law enforcement to bring urgent attention and coordinated action to the city’s growing addiction crisis.

  • She will push for expanded mental health and harm-reduction supports, while also ensuring homeowners and business owners are no longer left to "self-police" their streets and storefronts.

  • Community safety is a right, not a privilege—and Ivy will fight for policies that bring balance, compassion, and accountability to the issue.

2. Smart Development That Works for Everyone

For too long, red tape and slow-moving processes have stalled progress in St. John’s. Ivy knows from experience that getting development moving isn’t just about buildings—it’s about jobs, housing, revitalized neighbourhoods, and stronger local economies.

  • She will advocate for streamlined development approvals, common-sense zoning reform, and collaborative engagement with developers, homeowners, and community groups.

  • Vacant lots and empty spaces should be opportunities, not liabilities—and Ivy wants to unlock their potential for the good of the entire city.

3. Transparency, Respect & Real Civic Pride

City Hall should work with the public, not around them. Ivy will champion a culture of openness, respect, and recognition across all levels of municipal government.

  • She’ll work to strengthen relationships between council, city workers, and the public, ensuring city staff feel valued, heard, and supported.

  • Ivy believes that community milestones—whether it’s a ribbon cutting or a new public initiative—shouldn’t just be for photo ops. They should reflect real, ongoing investment in the people who make this city work.

This platform isn’t built in a boardroom—it’s built from the ground up. Ivy Hanley has worked in the toughest environments, led real community change, and knows what it takes to turn plans into action. She's ready to bring that energy to City Hall.
